In the Torsbuåsen tunnel on the new E18 between Tvedestrand and Arendal, the company's emergency exit and kiosk were recently installed. The feedback was very positive.
– The products are very simple to install and offer clear HSE advantages during the installation phase, with short assembly times and reduced man-hours. They are essentially turnkey with pre-painted surfaces. There is little finishing work required, says Sondre Svalastog, Project Director at AF Anlegg.
The installation of the prefabricated Foamrox emergency kiosk in the Torsbuåsen tunnel took about 30 minutes. A range of beneficial properties has led large companies to choose Foamrox over traditional concrete products.
Simply put, Foamrox is a composition of foam glass, made from recycled glass, and polyurea, one of the world's strongest coating materials.
Consisting of around 95% recycled glass results in significant environmental benefits. Using Foamrox structures in tunnels can halve greenhouse gas emissions compared to current materials.
– We don't want to disparage concrete, but our products can halve emissions during production and further reduce them in transport and installation, says Kjell Håkon Helgesen, CEO of Foamrox.
– I've been in the industry for 30 years. This is a big step in the right direction, says Are Omdal, CEO of Scanmatic Elektro. An example is emergency cabinet frames, providing a weight reduction of around 93% compared to concrete. A concrete frame weighs 600 kg, while Foamrox's weighs 44 kg.
