Installed technical building in two days

The glass elevator at Fløyheia in Arendal will soon be ready for use and Foamrox has been part of the project in the form of the technical building that houses the actual control system for what will become a new attraction for the city.

Jan Atle Einerkjær from Consto Anlegg Sør has been the project manager for the work and he is impressed by how quick and easy it was to set up a technical building made of Foamrox elements.

"Yes, the material is simply brilliant. Easy to work with and quick to set up. We saved quite a bit of time by using this product."

Einerkjær discovered Foamrox when he was working on the new E18 between Arendal and Tvedestrand, where emergency tunnels made of the lightweight elements were installed, and after a presentation from the Foamrox team, he did not hesitate to use the material in the technical building for the lift up to Fløyheia.

"In tunnels and other workplaces with high HSE requirements, it is very convenient when you use a fraction of the time you would have with other construction methods. The technical building was installed and painted in a couple of days, and was ready for use immediately.

"Now it is filled with all kinds of electrical equipment and UPS systems.

Foamrox AS is based in Froland and has developed a patented building material that can replace concrete in non-load-bearing structures, such as technical buildings. The company, which moved from Arendal to new premises in Froland last year, started Foamrox with a desire to offer an alternative to today's fire and frost protection in tunnels. The material, which is made of cellular glass (foam glass) with a strong coating, has many good properties that also contribute to the environment, sustainability and circular economy.

The elements, which are certified to fire class EI60 and weigh only 10% of concrete, can be easily installed manually, without the use of heavy machinery.

Will he use Foamrox elements in projects in the future? “There is no doubt about it,” says Einerkjær.
