New fire-resistant building for emergency services and water, Arendal municipality

“I visited Foamrox a few years ago and was given an introduction to the products they sell and thought it sounded exciting,” says Dag. “I have been in dialogue with Foamrox AS for a long time and thought this project was perfect for trying out the products.”

And he is delighted: "It is very important that an aggregate building is fireproof, and the advantages of Foamrox products are that they are just that, fireproof. Other properties are that they are noise-insulating and have no joints, which makes them waterproof."

Foamrox is a unique product that is a combination of two well-known components, cellular glass and polyurea. Cellular glass (foam glass) is made from 100% recycled glass and has undergone a heat process that turns the final product into a rigid material with glass-filled pores that make up a large part of the volume.

The building is fireproof and soundproofed.
"We are impressed with the product and the work that was done, and this is something we are considering using more of in future projects. Cellular glass itself has many uses and you should not ignore the fact that we can use this as, for example, an alternative to insulation in projects for the municipality."

Cellular glass is an environmental product with many properties and can, among other things, be used to replace XPS/EPS insulation on both roofs and floors.

"I have nothing to complain about the end result," says a satisfied Dag from his office in Arendal municipality.
